This Briggs & Stratton 540cc 21.0 Gross Horsepower Briggs & Stratton Intek Engine with 1-Inch x 3-5/32-Inch Length Crankshaft, tapped 7/16-20 has 12 volt electric start, and a 9 amp DC alternator charging system. This engine also features a cast iron cylinder sleeve and dual element air cleaner for extended engine life along with a full pressure lubrication system that includes a premium oil filter. The patented linear balancing system provides smoother engine performance while the float carburetor provides for consistent easy starting. Cooler engine operation and longer valve life is obtained by the engine?s overhead valve design. The exhaust manifold and muffler are included but the fuel tank is omitted. For use on lawn tractors and is emission compliant for sale in all 50-states.

This review is from: Briggs & Stratton 331877-3036-G5 540cc 21.0 Gross HP Intek Engine with 1-Inch X 3-5/32-Inch Length Crankshaft Tapped 7/16-20 (Lawn & Patio) I ordered this motor after the 19.5 hp engine on my John Deere LA 115 blew up. I was concerened that because it was not a direct replacement l might run into some issues. It was a direct fit. Even the wiring harness was the same. I did have to swap out my exhaust from the old engine. I also swapped the oil drain tube. Another person left a review regarding the bolt holes not being tapped. Again, not an issue as the bolts from the old engine are self taping. I had it swapped and running in less than an hour. It saved me at least a grand considering the cost of a new riding lawn mower and a couple of more hoursepower to boot. I couldn't be happier and highley recommend this motor. I also recieved free 2 day shipping as a prime member. I researched several other sites for a replacement motor and this deal from Amazon could not be beat.
